Blair Jollands, George Lynch, Gwen Dickey, Toyah Wilcox & Derek Forbes

Interviews from 23rd March include Blair Jollands, George Lynch of Dokken, Gwen Dickey of Rose Royce, Toyah Wilcox of Toyah and the Humans, along with Derek Forbes of Big Country.

Blair Jollands is a compelling singer-songwriter. His compositions are cinematic in scope and call to mind aspects of Nick Cave‘s songwriting, Bowie and Beck at their heartbroken best. As well as an ear for lush instrumentation, Jollands brings his award-winning sound design skills to his music, incorporating found sounds and samples into his productions. He has previously collaborated with Boy George and The Strokes producer Gordon Raphael, and released albums under his alter ego El Hula. He embraces modernity with classic songwriting in equal measure resulting in a uniquely refreshing confection. He is a velvet throated crooner with enough Dylan-esque grit to ensure there is never any danger of things getting saccharine.

George Lynch is an American hard rock guitarist and songwriter. George is best known for his work with heavy metal band Dokken and his band Lynch Mob. Lynch is considered to be one of the most influential and famous 80’s metal guitarists. He is known for his unique playing style and sound. He is ranked #47 in “100 greatest guitarists of all time” by Guitar World magazine also ranked #10 in “Top 10 Metal Guitarists of All Time” by Gibson.

Rose Royce is an American soul and R&B group. They are best known for several hit singles during the 1970s including “Car Wash,” “I Wanna Get Next to You,” “I’m Going Down”, “Wishing on a Star”, and “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore”.

The Humans are a rock band featuring singer Toyah Willcox, former REM drummer Bill Rieflin and musician Chris Wong. The band have released three studio albums, We Are The Humans, Sugar Rush and Strange Tales, and have performed live in the UK, Estonia and the USA.

Derek Forbes is a Scottish bassist, vocalist, and sometime guitarist, best known for his work with Simple Minds.  He is now the bass player with Scottish band Big Country, replacing long standing Tony Butler who retired from the band.
