Richard Drummie, Barry Whitwam, Mark Hitchcock, Al Mosca & Jimmy James

Interviews from 22nd July include Richard Drummie of Go West, Barry Whitwam of Herman’s Hermits, Mark Hitchcock of Melic, Al Mosca of Freddie & The Dreamers along with Jimmy James.

Richard Drummie is best known as one half of British Male Duo ‘Go West’ who burst onto the music scene in 1985 and have remained one of the greatest live acts the UK has produced. Go West are still going strong, and aside from Go West, Richard has forged a career of distinction as a writer and producer and has engaged in a number of high risk treks for charity.

Herman’s Hermits are an English beat band, formed in Manchester in 1963 as Herman & The Hermits. The group’s record producer, Mickie Most (who controlled the band’s output), emphasized a simple, non-threatening, clean-cut image, although the band originally played R&B numbers. This helped Herman’s Hermits become hugely successful in the mid-1960s.  Whitwam is the only continuous member of the band and continues to tour with Herman’s Hermits joined by new musicians. As of December 2011, these included Geoff Foot, who has been associated with the band since Noone’s departure, as lead singer and bass guitarist, Kevan Lingard on keyboards and vocals, and Simon Van Downham on guitar.

Melic are a four-piece rock band based in London with a sound derived from an eclectic blend of musicians – fusing a funk-rock bassist, a metal drummer, a classically trained pianist and saxophonist, and a rock singer/song-writer guitarist. In 2012 the band won ‘Best Overall Band’ in the UK Unsigned Awards, run by Play Music Magazine (UK), and have since been signed to Beatnik Geek Records.

Freddie and The Dreamers were one of the bands that stormed the UK charts in the early 1960s and were part of the British Invasion that took on America.  With hits including You Were Made For Me and I’m Telling You Now, the Manchester boys soon became a household name.

Jimmy James is a soul music singer, known for songs like Come To Me Softly, Now Is the Time and I’ll Go Where the Music Takes Me.
