Interviews from 2nd September include Frank Allen of the Searchers and Johnny Lucas along with Zoe Schwarz of Blue Commotion.
Frank Allen is an English bass guitarist. He has played bass guitar with Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers and The Searchers (since 1964 when he replaced original bass guitarist Tony Jackson), who he is still with today. Allen joined Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers as rhythm guitarist in 1961, and changed over to bass guitar in early 1962, following the departure of Ben Jordan.
Johnny Lucas was born in Warrington and has been pursuing a music career since the age of fifteen, and has had some colourful experiences from living in Nice in France to playing for the British Forces in Afganistan. In 2012, Johnny was crowned ‘The Next Big Thing’ in a music competition at London’s Leicester Square theatre, leading to high-profile Longon gigs and opportunities to work with top producers.
Zoe Schwarz has a Performing Arts degree from Middlesex University. Zoe has headlined at Ronnie Scott’s, The Vortex, Dean Street, and at festivals all over the UK. She has performed with an extraordinarily wide range of musicians including Harrison Birtwistle, Emma Kirkby, Scott Stroman and Keith Tippett. A relatively new comer to the blues, but this is clearly her comfort zone here.
