Interviews from 1 August include Portsmouth band Free from Gravity live in the studio, Jason Sawford of Australian Pink Floyd, blues singer Sari Schorr, along with Kristy Osmunson of duo American Young.
Free From Gravity are a four piece Rock band out of Portsmouth UK who play a style of music they call “Kick Assed Chilled Out Rock” – that’s Soft Rock With Attitude. The band`s original material has a range from classic rock anthems to moving ballads, always with a love for detail and sound. Their songs will catch you and leave you with a liberating sense of freedom from gravity.
Jason Sawford became an original founding member of the Australian Pink Floyd in 1988. Prior to joining the band he studied for a science degree in Australia and later went on to study for a music degree, leaving half way through to join the Aussie Floyd. Programming the keyboards to get the authentic Floyd sounds is an on-going part of Jason’s role in the band. He uses a complex set-up of four keyboards, sound units, samplers and digital desk, which involves months of preparation ahead of major tours. After playing in the band for many years, Jason has numerous stories of funny, strange and amazing things that have happened on the road. Playing “Comfortably Numb” alongside Rick Wright at Dave Gilmour’s birthday party comes high up on Jason’s list of career highlights.
In January 2015 legendary producer Mike Vernon was invited to receive a ‘Keeping The Blues Alive’ award at the prestigious International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA. This award was the first highlight of the weekend for Mike, the second was witnessing the performance of one of the most amazing female blues singers Mike has seen in years – Sari Schorr. Mike was so knocked out with Sari that he offered to come out of retirement to produce an album with her. Several years of touring USA & Europe with Joe Louis Walker & Popa Chubby bands brought Sari greater prominence in the blues world. Sari has been inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame.
American Young is an American country music duo signed to Curb Records. The duo is composed of Kristy Osmunson, formerly of the group Bomshel, and songwriter/producer Jon Stone. In late 2013, the duo released their debut single, “Love Is War”, which has charted on Country Airplay. Billy Dukes of Taste of Country gave the song 4 out of 5 stars, comparing their sound favorably to The Civil Wars.
